My bed of choice.

Pros

  • Very comfortable
  • Breathable
  • Soft
  • Durrable
  • Packs down very small
  • Light weight
  • Sheds water reasonably well, and dries quickly
  • Amazing delivery speed every time (4 times so far, 2 days each time)

Cons

  • The girlfriend hates that I'd rather sleep in this than in a bed
  • You will experience hammock withdrawals when obligated to other sleeping arrangements

My 11' hammock is made of "Hexon 1.6W".  I didn't buy the hammock from Dutch, but I did buy my material from him to make my own 11' netless hammock for about $30.  The material is incredibly durable, and comfortable.

I had a $30 ENO-type hammock before this, and the hexon 1.6 packs down much smaller, weighs much less, and is more comfortable. My friends with ENO's have said that they're jealous of my size/weight/price ratio when compared to theirs.

If you plan on making any of your own gear, the Dutchware store is an amazing place for DIY materials. I have sent Dutch several chunks of several paychecks, and have ambitions to send him much more in the near future.  The cheapest, lightest gear is homemade, and Dutchware has the best prices I can find, with incredible service.

Check out his website for his catalog of options.

My suspension and underquilt are also made of materials from www.dutchware.com (Amsteel whoopi slings, zing-it ridge lines, Argon 90 outer shell, Argon 67 inner shell, no-see-um baffles, 850 fp down).
