I have had these boots for 16 years. Best boots I have ever had..but I also like my Scarpas for something lighter weight...Being 65 I have had a lot of boots none have performed as well nor been as reliable as these boots...and I do not buy junk gear.
Took these boots out to the Grand Canyon after a month of wear-in for a solo in March to test my ACL which i just got done rehabbing after shearing it. No foot issues, lots of stability and believe me the trail was treacherous since there was lots of snow.
These boots have more miles than I can count. Been all over the world in them. Last trip was a 100 mile+ backpack on Scotland's West Highland Way. And they still look great although that great Vibram sole is being considered for resoling. But I am anal about taking care of my gear. Love these boots!
Background
1000s of miles backpacking in all sorts of weather and terrain...Scotland, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, USA...mountains, hills, swamps

Wore these boot for years. Tackled all of NH's 4000 footers in them. Loved these boots very much, and plan to buy another pair.
Pros
- High quality materials
- Rugged construction
Cons
- Minor—after all the miles, they still squeaked a little
I used these boots in all conditions and all seasons, both day hiking and backpacking. I had a great deal of confidence in them. They kept my feet comfortable and dry, and provided excellent traction. Knocked off all of the White Mountains 4000 footers in them.
Parted ways with them recently when I decided to give them to the guide who led us up Mt. Kilimanjaro. These were the older round-lug style Vibram sole, but the boots still had many miles left to go, and I hope they're still going! I plan on getting another pair of Civettas soon.

I bought these boots initially because of the fit and because they were gore-tex. They fit my size 12 feet perfectly except for a little slip in the heel. I put a pair of Vasque insoles in them and they snugged right up. I had alot of time to break them in but it wasn't needed. They've been worn almost continually for 2 years now to work, local hiking on trails and some alpine climbing to 12,000ft in snow. The Gore-tex is awesome, especialy when combined with great quality leather. My feet have never seem a drop of water even while standing in a stream for an hour. My brother-in-law wears these same boots while standing in underground vaults ankle deep all day and says the same thing. Great boots, get them on sale at REI for $149.00

My Zamberlans are my primary hiking/backpacking boot. Although I own several other brands/weights these are my "go to" boot whenever I know the trail is going to be rough and or wet.
I bought them many years ago at REI and they just keep going. The lugs on the soles are worn down to rounded little knobs now but I can't give them up. Used with gaiters I've never had a wet foot in these boots. The fit (for me) has been perfect from the get go. I wish, boy do I wish, that REI still sold these boots as I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Bought these boots at R.E.I. because they fit my foot better than anyone others. The first pair, however, had a fold in the boot liner that wouldn't come out and I had to exchange them. The second pair, after about 50 miles of use, started coming loose at the sole near the toe and I had to return them as well. Three times wasn't the charm, however, because I wasn't about to give them another chance. With this boot, the slightly lower price probably isn't worth the risk.

Very comfy after the initial break in--had some heel blisters during this period. Also very waterproof, even without the addition of a goretex liner - use of good leather I think. Probably the most comfortable boots I could possibly imagine, and definately no complaints. I have at least 150 miles in on them, and no durability concerns as yet. Gotta love those Italians. Buy em!

Excellent boots; have used them for three years mainly in Scottish highlands for trail and mountain walking where the terrain is very tough and it's very wet. Very comfortable, and good support. Pretty waterproof, although I have never found a boot that keeps your feet dry in Scotland!
Like them so much have just bought another pair.
