Vivobarefoot Legacy
Another great shoe by Vivo! This minimalist shoe is a must-have for any hikers out there who prefer breathability and maneuverability over ankle support. I recommend this shoe!
Pros
- Lightweight
- Breathable
- Durable sole
- Allows maneuverability
- Comfortable
Cons
- Ankle support
- Not waterproof
- Not good for cold weather hiking
I wear an 11.5 and that was what I ordered. The shoe fits great all around. There is the nice snug fit you want while hiking for both the toes and the heel, but it is not so tight that it gets uncomfortable. There is virtually no breaking in needed as it is a shoe and not a boot. I have hiked 100+ miles in them and have not had any problems with chaffing or blistering.
There are a few downfalls to the shoe though. Since it is low cut it does not keep debris or snow out very well. It also does not provide a high amount of ankle support. With saying this, I suggest this shoe for a younger hiker whose joints are still in good condition and can handle the non-restricted movement.
The shoe is leather, so offers a lot of water resistance, but is not waterproof due to the breathable holes. The shoe does, on the other hand, dry very quickly due to the same holes. The shoes are very good for hiking and the VivoBarefoot sole offers good traction on both wet and dry ground. It will not keep your feet warm in the winter, so I do not suggest it as a 4-season hiking shoe.
I would say this is a great 3-season hiking shoe and boasts many features such as the Vivo-sole, breathable holes, and a nice look for both casual, urban, and outdoor outings.
