The Victorinox Swiss Army Cadet is a very simple multitool that is compact and lightweight. It’s the perfect size to clip onto your keychain, slide in your pocket, or stash into your backpack.
Pros
- Very slim profile
- Compact
- High quality
- Durable
- Strong slipjoint feedback
Cons
- Difficult to deploy tools
This multitool is great. It’s super slim, compact, and light. For some people it might be too big for a keychain, but I didn’t have a problem with it.
This is a great backup companion to take with you wherever you go. It has functions that can serve you in your everday life or in the outdoors. It has a solid can opener and a good sized knife, a bigger knife you’d get compared to other keychain sozed multitools. It also has a nail file and nail cleaner which I like to have as well. It has different screwdriver bits incorporated into the caplifter and can opener. It even has a wire stripper. I’ve used the screwdrivers around the house as well as outdoors to repair some gear. It works great in both environments.
As mentioned it is lightweight, perfect for backpacking. It’s very compact so you save some space, however that causes a small issue. All the tools are tightly packed into the multitool, making it somewhat difficult to deploy the tools. You’ve really gotta dig in there to get the tools out. It doesn’t bother me too much. It can just be annoying sometimes.
Whenever I deploy the tool I get a loud audible snap, telling me that it is fully deployed. I love hearing that feedback. Although it’s a slipjoint, the tools are very secure in place. It takes a good amount of force to fold them back into the tool. The caplifter has a cool feature. The slipjoint activates halfway and all the way, giving you different options on how you want to use and hold the tool while using the caplifter/flathead screwdriver.
