UST WetFire Tinder

photo: UST WetFire Tinder fire starter

I like having a couple of these fire starters in my bag. Not many things are more frustrating than having trouble getting a fire going.

Pros

  • Small
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to use
  • Long burn time
  • Works wet or dry

Cons

  • None

I recently bought these in a 5-pack from Walmart just to try them out. I am so pleased with them! These things come individually wrapped and are very small (about the size of a strawberry) and lightweight. I like these things because it kind of takes the hassle out of trying to get a fire going.

We gathered wood and kindling and piled the kindling around this little fire starter and let it do the rest. You can either shave some of the fire starter off or you can burn it all at once. I burn mine all at once and just let it burn for the full 5 to 6 minutes.

I like these things because it's a "surefire" way of getting the flames to rolling. By using something like this you can spend less time worrying about getting the fire going and more time on what you're going to cook over the fire, which is way more important!

I was skeptical that these things would work as well as they said they would, but they definitely did. They have my approval!

I've tried making homemade fire starters and they worked excellent, but for as cheap as the UST WetFire Tinder is, I will just buy these from now on. They will keep from having to take the time to make the others and they are way less messy than any homemade fire starter I have ever seen.
