Even purchased used these are wonderfully crafted. Apex softshell is a great material. Excellent stretch and movement. The current model is very similar, only a change in thigh zips. The fit is active, so there's no bulk either. The inseam is true to specs at 32". Protection and reinforcement in all of the right places. The extra bib-like weather protection in the back of the pant is great for tackling kids in the snow or full extensions when climbing. Even before my restorative DWR treatment light rains didn't leak through. After Atsko treatment water leaps off the fabric.

I was perfectly comfortable in-camp at 22 degrees with a Smartwool ligthweight baselayer underneath. The next morning in the high 20's I actually got too warm during a snowball fight...thank goodness for the thigh zips and breathability of the fabric. The descent from camp in mid 40's was delightful... I was warm and dry. My only wish is that the integrated gaiters had lace hooks. A truly versatile pant for cold conditions, and with a heavy baselayer like a powerstretch tight, these could handle some seriously cold climates.
