Ternua Ladakh Jacket

photo: Ternua Ladakh Jacket down insulated jacket

Ternua is the first outdoor brand to use recycled down, which comes from apparel and bedding, in its outerwear. The Ladakh Jacket is insulated with proprietary Neokdun fill, a 100 percent, recycled down filling developed in partnership with French down company Navarpluma.

According to Ternua PR rep Katy Gaenicke, Navarpluma "removes down filling from bedding, comforters, and jackets, and cleans and sanitizes it [with no harmful chemicals] to create a high-quality sustainable down fill." The down is then used to fill new down outdoor apparel from Ternua.

The Ladakh Jacket weighs a lightweight 240 grams, is filled with 800 fill Neokdun recycled down, and features a helmet-compatible insulated hood, two hand warmer pockets, and a chest pocket. It promises to be warm, lightweight, and highly compressible for alpine adventures.

Best for: Fast and light winter alpine ascents
