Swiss Gear Eiger Hiker Tent

I bought this tent four years ago and it has been my one and only tent since then. The only reason for this is because I don't have the cash to get a decent tent.

This tent is light, easy to set up (one pole), and snug. I've used it in Michigan winters down to 18ºF with ~20mph winds and it kept me going all night. It held up strong on top of Black Balsam Knob, NC in what could've easily been 25mph winds all night. It's accompanied me on many day hikes and several extended trail trips. Really quite easy to get a nice taut set-up from this tent.

The condensation, being one wall nonbreathable, is quite severe really. There's a mesh aperture in the floor between the gear vestibule and the sleeping compartment that would render the tent utterly useless in heavy rains. I have no idea what the purpose of this floor-gap is.

I've slept two people in this tent and it's snug but do-able. Please only consider this tent if you're willing to have dew dropping on your face in the night. I've woken up with the top of my bag soaked from falling condenstaion (ew).

For $40... good gift for an aspiring hiker to get them started, or (like me) a broke college student who doesn't have any other options.
