Sole Active Medium Footbed

photo: Sole Active Medium Footbed insole

The Sole Active Medium Footbed is designed for arches of every kind. This insole is a great companion for those who live an active lifestyle or who struggle with common foot injuries.

Pros

  • Suitable for any arch height
  • Promotes alignment
  • Zero drop
  • Moldable

Cons

  • A little bit rigid

The Sole Active Medium Footbed is an insole that’s built with extra cushion. The rigid structure of the insole helps to promote a healthy foot position, support arches of every type, and to reduce strain for active people. This is Sole’s best selling footbed, and with good reason!

Sustainability

Sole operates with sustainability in mind. And you can see these values in the structure of the Sole Active Medium Footbed. This product is made with EVA that’s constructed with 20% industrial scrap. That’s 20% of material that could’ve easily ended up in a landfill. Instead, it’s building supportive and reliable insoles for active people.

Structure

This insole also comes with a deep heel cup to help keep your foot in alignment. The moldable orthopedic base forms to fit to your specific foot. And it even comes with a metatarsal support pad in order to relieve the pressure you’d otherwise experience on your heel. With a sturdy yet flexible design, you can expect this insole to support you when you need it the most. Yet, it’ll keep your feet from aching after hard training sessions.

Perks of the Active Medium Footbed

Sole’s Active Medium Footbed is clinically proven to reduce Plantar Fasciitis strain by 34%, allowing you to stay on your feet more frequently. But it also helps to prevent other potential injuries. When you receive these insoles you can either mold them by heating them in the oven or by wearing them for a few days. Sole also offers a 90-day footbed guarantee.

Testing Conditions

I was lucky enough to test the Active Medium Footbed for over a year in a variety of environments. These insoles saw ultra-running days, casual hiking days, wet days, and more. We travelled from Colorado’s Rocky Mountains to the hills of the Ozarks, and finally to the Great Smoky Mountains. While paired with either the Brooks Cascadia shoe or the Saucony Peregrine shoe, these insoles provided just enough support to keep my high arches from collapsing.

Overall, I found these insoles to be supportive and comparable to products like Superfeet insoles.

Background

With over 3,000 long trail miles behind me, I can often be found traipsing along on high peaks. I've used many different types of insoles for my high arches. And I was pleased with Sole's Active Medium Footbed's ability to support me when I needed it the most.
