Sockwell Ski Medium Compression Socks

photo: Sockwell Ski Medium Compression Socks compression sock

Medium compression socks provide performance and quicker recovery. Merino wool and Alpaca for warmth.

Pros

  • Great fit
  • Graduated compression
  • Arch support
  • Warm
  • American made

I have about 20 downhill ski days on these Sockwell ski socks so far and I really like them. I have tested both the Men's ski medium and the ski ultra-light socks in a medium/large size to fit my size 9 foot. Other than the thickness and a bit more Merino wool in the medium sock they are pretty much alike in performance.

Both feature a seamless toe with extra padding under the ball of my foot. Heel fit is excellent with extra spandex woven into the arch and achilles areas. Graduated compression of 15-20mmHG which is considered moderate, begins at the ankle and continues to the top of the sock which is just below the knee.

The fit is snug without being uncomfortable and that makes getting my feet in my custom foamed ski boots much easier. Nothing is more annoying than having a socks heel move while getting my boots on.

The two different thicknesses have allowed me to tailor the sock to the temperature on various ski days which goes a long way towards comfortable feet. The medium weight sock has proven warm down into the teens and the ultra-light works well when temperatures rise into the 40's.

If you have never tried compression socks you are really missing a great invention that has migrated over to the outdoor arena from the medical field. I really like how well they fit and the compression on my legs and around the ankles feels like extra muscles. I definitely notice the difference during the day with much less fatigue as the compression helps move the blood out of my lower legs.

Recovery is much better again because the lactic acid doesn't settle in my lower legs, which really is noticeable when skiing 4 or 5 days in a row.

Sockwell ski socks are made in America and have a 100% guarantee for quality defects.
