Sanborn Canoe Co. Minnesota
The Sanborn Canoe Co. Minnesota 14° is a light weight (19 oz.) and durable paddle making all environments pleasant. The paddle is comfortable in the hands, takes a beating, and comes out still looking beautiful. Some may think the light weight compromises durability, but not with this paddle.
Pros
- Extremely light
- Durable
- Comfortable
- Beautiful
Cons
- Nothing
I recently purchased the Minnesota 14° bend for an excursion in the BWCA. I have paddled with many other well-known brands before with no complaints, but this paddle came out on top for paddles to own.
I know looks do not matter as to use, but it is definitely worth mentioning. The paddle is definitely a thing of beauty and the care the Sanborn Canoe Co. puts into its paddles is obvious. Even my partners thought it was the nicest looking paddle they have seen.
The paddle comes with an unfinished grip that needs to be oiled before use. Oiled handles are by far more comfortable especially for those full days of paddling. Weighing in at 19 ounces it is flexible but remains sturdy when you really need to dig deep.
The tip of the paddle has an epoxy chip guard that was put through the paces in the Boundary Waters. After close inspection I could not find a dent on it after the trip. Impressive since I am not easy on my gear and expect it to perform sometimes beyond normal use.
Overall this is my favorite paddle to date. I have used at least five other high end manufactures paddles and this is now my go-to paddle.
I would like to mention the customer service for the Sanborn Canoe Co. is top notch. They were attentive to my needs and ensured I received exactly what I was after. Great job, Sanborn Canoe Co.!
