Salomon XA Pro Mid GTX

rated 4.5 of 5 stars

These boots saved my feet and allowed me to finish my 1000km Camino.

Pros

  • Solid construction
  • Comfortable
  • Good support

Cons

  • Pricey

In 2009 I was walking the Camino de Santiago, Northern route. The shoes I had (which are a highly rated Italian brand) were not working well for me.

After two weeks of persisting I was almost crippled. I spent almost a full day in a Decathalon store trying on shoes that would work for my feet.

Salomon is the only one that seemed to do the job properly.

I bought a pair of Exit Peak II and my life was changed.

In 2014 I walked from Seville to Santiago de Compostela, over 1100 km.

I could not buy the Exit peaks as they were discontinued. I opted for the XA Pro Mid GTX.

To my pleasant surprise they were even better than my previous Salomons.

These are (for me) by far the best hiking boots I have owned. I'm onto my third pair now and will likely stock up on another pair in case they are discontinued. :)
