Very comfortable, well built, good looking, hiking shoes.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable
  • Good support
  • Has the right amount of flex
  • Waterproof
  • Looks good

Cons

  • Fitting, but very subjective

I bought these shoes mainly as everyday shoes, but I did want to have the option of fast-hiking lightweight shoes I can take to the outdoors.

As I yet didn't have the chance to test them on a tough trek, I can't express my opinion on that kind of use. But as an everyday shoes they are perfect, very comfortable, not too stiff, but not as flexible as running shoes, giving them, in my opinion, the perfect balance between flex and support.

I did run with them in the city and they felt good. I can imagine they will feel the same outdoors.

I think they are more of a fast-hiking shoes than trail running, and that's why I chose them over other models.

The waterproofing works great, unfortunately I stepped on a thorn branch that pierced the sole all the way up, and now one of the shoes is not waterproof anymore, that's the cost of having a more "soft" shoe I guess.

The one complaint I do have is fit wise, and that's very subjective. I have narrow feet and ankle with a half flat arch, making those shoes ideal for me (beware wide foot people), but to tie them tight to my ankle for maximum support, means I get a lot of pressure on the front part of my ankle, and still the heel area is a bit loose. I get this "problem" in all Salomon shoes.

For last, they look great! I got the deep blue color and I like them, but as I'm not the most stylish person, I can count on the amount of compliments I got to know they look good :).

June 2018 Update:

First of all, comfort wise they are amazing! They grip my feet like gloves and they deliver excellent support. I guess that with time they molded around my feet.

I did do some day hikes with them and it felt great. I'm used to hike with boots so I had to get used to the softer experience but I had good traction support and agility with these shoes.

Breathability—not perfect, my feet do get moist to a degree higher than desired, they are totally waterproof and that's the tradeoff. I can cautiously say they are not as breathable as Gore-tex.

Overall excellent shoes! Very comfortable, good traction, durable, totally waterproof, lack a bit on breathability.
