I love this shirt for what it is. It is a very light long sleeve t-shirt that breathes and dries fast.
Being a trekking pole user means my arms are extended out and exposed to a bit more sun than hiking without poles. So I can either add sunblock (which I really don't like), or move to long sleeve. Long sleeves also give a little bit of protection from biting flies/mosquitoes.
The Cross Run long sleeve shirt's fabric is very light so there really is little weight penalty. The fabric dries very quickly, so sweat/rain dries quickly.
The fit is potentially an issue for some. It is a very slim fit. I'm 5'9" ,145 (ish) lbs, 30" waist, 41" chest and the medium is almost a perfect fit. My only gripe is around the shoulder/bicep/tricep it is a little tighter than I like.
I use the Cross Run by itself on warm days, and as a layer for the cold.
It's a very thin polyester, so you can still get burned through the shirt, bugs can still get through it and it picks up the usual polyester stink.
But, at 3.6 oz it makes for a great layer and I tend to just chuck it in my backpack just in case.
I got the shirt on sale, otherwise it's probably a bit more expensive than I would like.
Background
I have used this shirt on numerous hikes, runs, and backpack trips.
