Rite in the Rain All-Weather Outdoor Journal

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

I filled up two spiral bound field level notebooks for my ecology research in Florida last summer. The waterproof paper worked very well despite the humidity and daily unannounced thunderstorms, although any pen used will create smudges and dry slowly.

Pros

  • Waterproof paper
  • Durable binding and cover
  • Ruler markings on the back cover

Cons

  • It takes a while for pen ink to dry on the waterproof pages
  • The ruler on the back cover is not in metric

If you are looking for a product to use in the field, whether for work or pleasure, then these notebooks are excellent for the price. You can order them in just about any size, with options for type of paper and binding cover.

Keep in mind that if you intend to write a lot in them you should go ahead and buy one with a solid polydura cover, since they come with more pages per notebook.
