REI Down Jacket

rated 3.5 of 5 stars
photo: REI Down Jacket down insulated jacket

A fairly lightweight affordable down jacket that isn't only fashionable, but functional as well!

Pros

  • True to size
  • Water/Wind resistant
  • Cheap!
  • Treated down

Cons

  • Not an ultralight down jacket
  • Seems to lose some feathers
  • Doesn't have any adjustable features
  • No hood

Fit: True to size. I'm an XL, and it works great to wear by itself, with a sweatshirt underneath it, or underneath a rain jacket. It is very comfortable and feels great on the skin, and is still quite breathable.

Adjustability: There are no adjustable features on the jacket, not a big issue for me though.

Water resistant: Haven't used it in the rain yet, but I put my arm in the sink and it seemed to work great.

This has been a recent purchase, so I don't know how well it is going to hold up. The design and feel are great, and it seems like something that will last a long time. I have purchased other equipment and jackets from REI and haven't been disappointed.

I will update if anything goes other than expected.
