Pelican Sport Intrepid 100x
Great beginners kayak. The twin arch multichine hull is very stable, you would have to try hard to tip it.
Pros
- Very stable
- Good seat
- Light
Cons
- Lack of dry storage in front
- No drink holder
- Seat has no drain hole
After reading all the great reviews of the Trailblazer 100 at Dicks, I was sold on Pelican. I had to call Pelican customer service to find out what hull was on that boat. Almost every review talked about the stability. I confirmed with Pelican that is had the twin arch multichine hull. She told me the Liberty, Trailblazer, Intrepid, Shoal, and Bounty all have the same hull.
After seeing the Intrepid 100x at Academy on sale, I grabbed it. I have about 10 hours in it now and absolutely love it. This will be great to teach my kids in the summer. The front storage is shallow and wet. The rear dry storage is good for a wallet and keys.
It is very stable, you would have to try pretty hard to tip it. Tracks pretty well. Changes direction easily. Easy to load due to it being very light.
I'm 240 lbs and carry 20 lbs in gear, no problems. I would give it 5 stars if it had better storage and a more comfy seat back.
