Ozark Trail WMT-161086 Model 30087

rated 2.5 of 5 stars

Bought the tent several years ago for camping at sports car races. Until recently, it has served me well.

Pros

  • For a large tent, it's relatively easy for one person to set up.

Cons

  • Despite model numbers and part numbers provided within the carry bag, if you need a part, there's no way to order it, and no one at Walmart has a clue.
  • The zipper binds when closing.

I own a WMT-141086 / Model 30087 14' x 10' tent that I purchased at a local Walmart several years ago for the purpose of camping at sports car races I attend. It has survived hard rains, storms, and wind with minimal issues...only if the wind blows just right, water will come in under the tent fly.

Last year when I was setting the tent up for camping during an event, the elastic band within one of the long roof poles, part #90096, failed. I taped the pole together with duct tape and didn't give it a second thought...expecting that ordering a new pole would be easy.

Boy, was that a mistake.  No one at Walmart can or will help.  admin@ozarktrail.com has never responded to my e-mail(s).  I can't find the part on any search engine. I probably shouldn't have tossed the old pole in a trash can when I struck the tent but then, again, I figured that if they went to all the trouble to list all the replacement part info on a tag inside the tend bag, this would be no problem.

In any case....I decided to try a forum to see if anyone knows how to get Ozark Trail / Walmart to respond or if this is just an exercise in futility.

My next event is in October.  If I can't acquire new poles (I'll probably buy 2 long poles if I can find them) then I guess I'll try another brand.

Background

This tent has been put up and taken down 11 times. Whenever I've had to strike it while wet, I've always pulled it from the bag and hung it up in my garage until dry for proper repack. Always vacuumed. Well maintained. No reason I can think of for that pole to fail but there you go...
