Woodland Power Stove
A versatile piece of camping gear that can be used as a high power blaster for fast boiling yet can be turned down to lower power for simmering with a big skillet or griddle. With the flame damper in place, it can even be used as a gas powered camp fire. To top it off, it breaks down and folds up small.
Pros
- Versatility
- Small packed size and light
- Powerful yet adjustable
Cons
- Can burn through a lot of propane in a hurry
This may be the single most useful and versatile piece of camping gear I've used for larger groups of rafting campers. The adjustable flame works through a wide range of settings as a supplemental burner for large pots/skillets/griddles or even grill boxes for barbecuing, and can then be cranked up to jet engine blaster mode for heating the dish water in a hurry.
After dinner is cleaned up, the attached flame damper goes in the jet and ceramic logs stacked on the grates make a great gas campfire for when fire restrictions are in effect.
In the morning it is easily broken down and folded up for storage in its own small drybag, although with stainless steel construction water can't hurt it.
The Power Stove sets up low to the ground and its tripod configuration is very stable. The cooking grates can be reversed to accommodate small or very large pots and pans. The only downside is how much propane you can go through, but it is well worth it.
One note: while sold through NRS, the Woodland Power Stove is not manufactured by NRS. It can be obtained from several sources.
