Multimat Trekker 25

photo: Multimat Trekker 25 self-inflating sleeping pad

Faulty valve and zero customer service.

Cons

  • The valve and mat material are not bonded properly.

I have owned a Thermarest 3/4 length self inflating sleeping mat since 1991—so that's 25 years. It is still every bit as good as the day I bought it. I bought a Multimat 3/4 length for my wife which we have owned for around 5 years.

On our most recent trip it developed a leak where the valve is inserted into the mat. This was terminal and not repairable with the kit provided. Clearly, there is a design fault with the valve. Below is the response to the email I sent customer services at Multimat.

Yes, that's right—nothing. Nada. Zilch. Diddly squat.

But a Thermarest. Always buy a Thermorest. You get what you pay for. You may feel great at the time saving yourself $$$$ or ££££ but believe me you will wish you had spent more when you are laying on a mat that is broken and you have the two worst night's sleep you can remember.
