Ortovox 3+
Reliable 3 x Ant. beacon, five years running.
Pros
- 3 Antennae
- Low battery draw, the single AA battery has more juice than an AAA
- Straight forward
- Good harness
Cons
- Battery in/out requires a bit of finesse (be gentle)
- The AA battery is a bit old school
I am glad I decided to buy this when 3 x antennae were becoming standard kit. This is the most common beacon amongst my backcountry peers. I am sure other beacons (Pieps, BCA, Mamut) are fine. I am still happy with choosing the 3+
