OOFOS OOriginal Sport Sandal
Super comfortable sandal. Great arch support and very lightweight.
Pros
- Arch support
- Soft ergonomic foobed
- Floatable
- Lightweight
Cons
- Not for running
I have to admit that prior to receiving the Oofos OOriginal sport sandal for testing, I hated flip-flop type sandals. They all hurt my toes and their flat profile made them horrible to walk in. So it was with a lot of skepticism that I agreed to test the Oofos sandal in a men's size 9.
The Marsala color is attractive. The bottom of the sandal is a dark gray, fading to a soft red color at the straps. Fitment was good, with a half inch of space between my foot and the front and rear edges of the sandal.
Sliding into the sandal for the first time showed that they are nothing like an old school flip-flop. The first thing I noticed is the very prominent arch support, the general softness of the sandal's footbed and their light weight. The toe post and straps are also made of this soft comforting Oofoam, as they call it, which they claim absorbs 37% more shock than other sandal materials.
Regardless of its name, everything about these sandals is soft and comfortable. The straps tie into the sandal even with my ankles, thereby keeping my foot planted in the center of the footbed even when the sandal is wet. Walking in these sandals is like walking on air, the ergonomic footbed along with the arch support makes for very comfortable walking.
Rather than being flat, the soles of the Oofos sandals have a rocker bottom where the heel and toe are higher than the mid-foot. This allows me to have a natural walking gate rather than the shuffling gate associated with standard flip-flops. I find that while walking the sandals actually feel like they are giving my feet a bit of foot massage, a little odd but comforting.
One final plus is the Oofoam is moisture and bacteria resistant. This keeps them smell free and able to float should I lose one while in the water.
The only shortcoming I have found, is these sandals are not for running, without a back strap they just are not secure enough to run in. So, I am now a convert to these Oofos OOriginal sport sandals. They are what I have been slipping on every morning this summer. Whether I use them around the house, out on the pool patio, the beach or going to the store, my feet are always comfortable.

Single purpose shoes that work perfectly for the role they were designed for. They are incredibly comfortable and help your feet recover but not useful outside of that type of situation.
I would highly recommend it for athletes or hikers who will be spending long hours on their feet or putting their feet through high-intensity workouts.
Pros
- Comfortable
- Stylish
- Durable
- Lightweight
- Good grip on the bottom
Cons
- Not versatile
- Slippery when wet
- Not very stable
I got the Oofos sport sandals to review and tried them out on a recent several night camping trip which involved many miles of hiking.
The first thing you notice when trying these shoes on is just how comfortable they are on your feet and how much support they give to the arch of your foot. They were designed to be recovery shoes and they do an amazing job of that. They fit my feet perfectly with my usual shoe size and they are well suited to my foot and arch type.
Since they are flip flops and the platforms are pretty high they do have a tendency to feel somewhat unstable at times, but it was worth it for the extra cushioning you get. Even walking around the rough terrain of our campground they handled just fine and I only found myself unstable when the shoes were wet and it was dark and hard to see. The traction on the bottom of the shoe was always enough to keep me from slipping.
Overall, the shoes are very well made and stood up to a pretty good amount of beating during use. I expected them to get torn up while using them in the woods but they don't show a single scratch or tear after several uses on camping trips. I have only used them for about a month so far but will try and update my review as I get out in them more.
