One Sport Mazama
One Sport is no longer in business, and the Mazama has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2024.
These are the best made, most comfortable boots I have ever worn!!!! They feature very durable Noweigan welt construction, a deep lug Vibram sole, truly one-piece uppers, thick comfortable tounge, and narrow heel pockets. I hiked around the Smokies for a few weeks and the boots softened up wonderfully. They are a bit on the heavy side, but being 6'6" and 200lbs., I even enjoy these boots for days hikes.
The support is great!!! Whether you're crossing rocks, mud, or snow you'll get sure footing. I wore these boots in the Rockies for two weeks and covered 115 miles, with several deep creek crossings, and only had two blisters. The Cabrelle lining eats sweat and dries vey quickly. The boots are supportive enough that you can squeeze by with strap-on crampons, but you can't climb in them. I highly recommend these to anyone needing a good, sturdy pair of boots that will last for many years!
