Great tread, smaller than usual fit, started falling apart after four days.

Pros

  • Tread grips well
  • Comfortable

Cons

  • Size runs small
  • Right shoe came unglued

The 810 trail runner is a good shoe, except for a couple things.

First of all, I felt it ran a little small, maybe a half size or more. The back of the foot seems to fit right, but the toe box seems significantly smaller than my other New Balance shoes. I normally wear two pairs of socks, but couldn't do it with these shoes, the toes were just too tight.

Second, and most importantly, the right shoe started to come apart after four days. The  sole separated from the upper shoe for the entire length of the shoe. I returned them to the store where I had purchased them, but there was not another shoe like it in the store. I kept them because I absolutely love the tread. It grips the road unbelievably. Slick places where before I would slide along now pose no problem whatsoever.

I applied Shoe-goo to the gap and they were as good as new. For about a week. Then the shoe came apart on the other side of the same foot. Shoe-goo to the rescue again. The left shoe has not had any separation whatsoever.

I didn't like the shoestrings on these shoes — simply a matter of aesthetics — and replaced them with the bright pink ones from my other NB shoes because they match the tread so perfectly.

I hope my shoe issue was just one defective shoe. Other than that, and the fact they run a little small, these are really great shoes.

I love these.

Pros

  • Made very well
  • Comfortable

Cons

  • Once the tread wears down some they can be very slippery, so I'm not sure why they fall under the trail sneaker category

I bought them about six years ago and have them on today. My sneakers are lightly worn from day to day and not even every day.

I went to my usual outlet hoping they had updated them or I could repurchase this exact pair, but no luck.
