Nalgene Water Bottle Sleeve with Handle
Well insulated, but runs small.
Pros
- Keeps cold fairly cold
- Keeps hot warm
Cons
- Snug fit does not allow for easy practical use
The pouch has a zippered front pocket and a stretchable neoprene strap that will fit onto most backpack hip belts (as tested on Kelty Redwing, Red Cloud and Lowe Alpine Netherworld packs). This is a nice feature if you like to carry a bottle or two accessible on your hip belt while you hike...but please read on.
A 32oz Nalgene Triton or HDPE bottle is a very snug fit in these pouches, making it difficult to reinsert the bottle without taking off your pack. This has me thinking that Nalgene intended users to NOT remove the bottle, or to use the smaller diameter 22/24/30oz bottles or soft canteens.
Perhaps the neoprene strap could be used as a carrying handle for runners or power walkers rather than a mounting strap for backpacks. Maybe the pouch will stretch out over time, but I was hoping for easier use.
Once a bottle is insterted, the zippered "secret pocket" is basically useless for anything other that a few folded dollar bills. It's just too tight for even a set of keys or a small multi-tool.
Sorry, Nalgene...love most of your products...but this one missed the mark.
