Montec Fawk Ski Jacket
Really good 20k/20k waterproofing, and they're also eco-conscious, which is nice. Been looking for an alternative to Gore-tex that doesn't use PTFE. I like the fit too: it's nice and roomy but not super baggy, and for the price the quality is really good as it's way cheaper than a lot of other big brands
Pros
- Price
- Durability
- Performance
- The jacket arrived really fast
Cons
- A few loose threads here and there
- They're online only, so you can't get them in shops
I bought this jacket for the 2023/24 snow season as my old jacket just couldn't hack it anymore. Faded DWR, waterproofing wasn't up to scratch, some snags and tears. I like to ride everything, and spend a lot of my time off piste and in the park as well as ripping laps. As such, I wanted a jacket that could do everything, but wasn't going to break the bank.
I stumbled onto Montec and wasn't sure if they were legit at first, but there's been a lot of buzz about them online so I checked some reviews and asked around and people said their gear is good. 20k/20k and DWR, choose between insulated and shell, and it was way cheaper than most of the things at that level, and like half the price of anything Gore-tex.
Honestly, I bought it expecting to get a season out of it and buy something new next year, but after 60+ days of riding it looks pretty much brand new. The durability is something I'm really surprised at for this price point, and the waterproofing and DWR have held up really well. They sell matching bibs, so I might check them out next season.
