Pros

  • Stable
  • Great construction
  • Fun boat to paddle

The Liquid Logic Hoss was actually my first whitewater boat, and I still have it.  The Hoss is a great river runner that can also catch a wave along the way to surf, while having plenty of volume and stability to run big water.

From the manufacturer, Liquid Logic:

Hoss is a river runner for the paddler sized between 130 and 240 lbs. It is easy to paddle downstream and easy to roll. We took the tried and true qualities of our creek boats and joined them with a playful hull design that allows any paddler to surf, spin and carve on waves while also paddling the river confidently. The Hoss is like the brother that you always want looking out for you. Hoss is the big brother that will take you under his wing and if you need a smaller friend, Lil’ Joe is the same reliable brother just in a smaller package.

Our Evaluation of the Liquid Logic Hoss:

PROS: Very stable and fairly easy to roll for a larger boat.  Because of its 70 gal volume, it is a great big water boat that can even be used for moderate creeking, which many people did when the Jefe was not available.  Its flat planing hull allows for basic playing in waves and holes as you paddle downriver.

Great beginner boat for larger paddlers because of its stability, fun boat for advanced paddlers to take in big water with confidence.

CONS: Not as manueverable as some smaller boats.  Since it is a model not currently produced anymore, it does not have the latest 'Bad Ass' outfitting.
