At 5lbs this pack is not for your ultraliters. However, for those looking for lots of cargo space, comfort and easy adjustments this pack does great.

At 60+10 liters there is ample cargo space for all of your equipment. I purchased the pack in May '08 while on the Appalachian Trail. I traveled 1950 miles with it and was very satisfied.

Initially, I needed to find a replacement pack that adjusted more easily to my torso. The 'EVO' system allows for quick and easy adjustment on the fly. A pull on a velcro strap and sliding of the strap through a buckle system slides the hip belt from a 'XXL' to a 'S' size.

The 70 liters allowed me to store a winter sleeping bag, air mattress, two-man tent, large food bag and clothes sack internally along with additional items such as a water filter and rain clothes as well as cook gear. The two side pockets and deep center pocket allowed storage of many additional items such as guide book, headlamp, shovel, mp3+accesories, snacks and much more. The top compartment is also spacious.

The hip pocket is a nice feature allowing for quick access to important items such as cell phone, camera and wallet. The main compartment may be loaded from the front as there is a double zipper with handle that allows easy access. It is 5lbs because it is durable and not nylon-based.

The only complaint I have is the buckles. They are not very strong and often half-unbuckled. I did have a dealer replace the hip built under warranty for a better buckle but the rest of the buckles could be improved.

Overall, the pack is comfortable and durable and I would recommend it for extended hikes.
