The Attack Pants, made for hunting (during which there is a LOT of hiking) are polyester with a 2% flex fiber coiled threads called "Primeflex". The high quality fabric is from the Japanese company Toray. They are "mostly windproof" and water resistant with a good DWR treatment.

Pros

  • Cargo pants with slim cargo pockets
  • 11" side thigh vent zips.
  • Gusseted crotch
  • Excellent tailoring including articulated knees

Cons

  • Pricey (but worth it)
  • Fly could be 1" longer
  • Pockets could be 1" deeper and should be made from the same fabric instead of mesh.

I bought the Kuiu Attack Pants for hiking and hunting and a trip to Norway in September/October. I chose a dark olive green color (Dark Moss). The other colors are subdued solids and three came in patterns, to blend in with natural scenery. They are Kuiu's biggest selling pants as they are an "all around" pant for many conditions.

These pants, unlike Fjallraven's skinny cut pants, are a classic cut with a slightly tapered leg but not baggy at all. In use the mild 4-way stretch makes them comfortable for occasional scrambling. They are tough, tear resistant and  shed heavy fog/mist very well. The interior of the pants is softer to the hand.

The weight and tight, very fine twill weave makes them best for spring, fall and early winter. They are cut to go over a base layer. The front pockets have a horizontal entrance from the top as with jeans. There are eight (8!) belt loops that could accommodate a 2" wide heavy web military belt at most.

With two jeans style  front pockets, two slim, zippered and flapped low profile cargo pockets and two zippered and flapped rear pockets there is plenty of storage space for items you absolutely must carry on your person. The 11" zippered side thigh ventilations have a mesh gore beneath the zippers.

I got a size Medium in a 32" length but had them tailored to 31". They are good looking pants, as suitable for informal occasions around town as they are for hunting.
