Jandd Mogen
The Jandd Mogen is easily the best small daypack I've ever used. It's filled with useful features (taped seams, heavy duty zippers, storm flaps, ski slots, etc.)and built with extended utility in mind. The pack has lasted me two years of long day trips and occasional overnight trips without a single problem. The 500 denier cordura hasn't ripped or stained, the seams are still tight, and the padding is still soft. The two side mounted water-bottle pockets are huge, allowing me to keep anything and everything that I might need in a hurry right at hand. All in all this is the best value I've ever seen in a small pack.

This daypack is bomb-proof. I bought mine back in 1993 and am just now getting around to replacing it with a new Mogen. I've taken it through many hard, long, hot, dusty trips in Asia as my only piece of gear, or crammed full of all the essentials. The quality is outstanding--after 10 years no rips, tears along the stitching, etc. The side pockets are fantastic for accessing things I need quickly, the zippers are strong, all around a great daypack, which is why I'm buying another to last me for the next 10 years!
