Jack Wolfskin Odyssey III
The Odyssey III has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best expedition packs for 2024.
This is a very good backpack. I bought it simply because it was on sale (MUCH less then all other packs), and I expected it to perform about average. It far exceded my expectations. On a two week trek, I fit all the gear I needed, as well as souvenirs. The frame is mediocre, but if you fit it to your back it is much better. It has three mini-pouchs in the main pouch, as well as a divider. It also has two very cool extras. The straps fold into a zippered flap so you can put it on a plane without worrying about anythig coming off, and they pop right back out as if they hadn't even been in there. Also, it has a clip off daypack, which is actually a separate backpack that has as room as your average school backpack. It should also be possible to clip your own daypack to it if you sew on clips. This is an awesome pack for someone who needs to fly to their trailhead. Buy it if you can find it.
