Helly Hansen All Mountain Jacket

The All Mountain Jacket has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best waterproof jackets for 2025.
First and foremost this jacket is totally bomb-proof. It is a great technical jacket, though it is a little heavy (about 2.5 lbs, though it does compare favorably with other big mountain jackets). It has a very good hood, it vents very well through pit zips, four mesh-lined pockets on the chest, and a back vent that zips open or closed. The all-mountain is reinforced on the shoulders, arms and hips with a heavy nylon oxford.
My only grips about the jacket are: 1. the barrels to adjust the waist drawcord are on the hips, making it a nuisance when putting a pack on, and 2: the sleeves aren't cut for folks with very long arms, like myself, but this isn't a big problem unless I use it for rock or ice climbing.
Overall this jacket is a great shell for big, expedition-type climbs, or winter's worst conditions. It is the most durable jacket i have ever seen, period. Nothing comes close, no matter what people say, I've seen them all. So if you're a winter camper or a big-mountain guy this is one jacket that you can trust with your life.
