Helikon-Tex Chest Pack Numbat
A product from European outdoor gear manufacturer Helikon Tex; from their bushcraft line. An excellent pouch to carry immediate necessities for bush, trail, or even around town. Light, of excellent quality, and very affordable.
Pros
- Easy to carry with a rucksack
- Has a lot of carry capacity for its intended use
- Can be had in many colours
- Affordable but well made
Cons
- If carrying too much weight the pack can cause mild back pain. This not my experience but is mentioned by some reviewers.
- Sweat builds up under the chest pack, though this dries quickly. Not so bad buildup in cooler weather.
This is an affordable, lightweight chest pack that can carry some immediate necessities where they can be reached easily. The Helikon Tex Numbat is a well designed, well built rig.
Whether you are hunting, hiking, mountaineering, this great piece of gear might work for you. A person can carry navigation, fire starting, multitools and a good bunch more in this kit. I have inluded some pictures with what I carry. All this gear weighs in at about 5 lbs.
The over shoulder back strap system is easily adjusted, comfortable, and breathable. It is closed with a zipper on top which has two closures. This allows one to zip from either side as desired. With a rucksack it is balanced and allows me to repack items I need without taking off me ruck.
I have been using this chest pack for several months now and really appreciate the design and thought that has gone into this product, and carriage comfort of this product. It may work for you. There is an excellent features video at Helikon Tex's US website as well as an excellent youtube review by Luke at Outdoor Gear Review.
