This is a tasty...very tasty...breakfast. Sadly, it's not a very BIG breakfast.

Pros

  • excellent flavor

Cons

  • not enough food for me
  • very short shelf-life
  • a little pricey

Heather's Choice. Made in Alaska, dehydrated, not freeze-dried.
Hmmmm....

Preparation:
3/4 of a cup of boiling water, let stand 5 minutes. The oats were tender and toothsome. Fruit and veg fully rehydrated.

Nutrition and Satiety:
480 calories in the whole package is a little on the light side for me. But I have a pretty serious metabolism; I burn through everything I put in me, so this was a little unsatisfying, leaving me very very ready for lunch. Low sodium at 140mg (6% rda). 19g of fat, 13g of protein (via powdered milk, nuts, and seeds), and 67g of carbs (from fruit-sugars and oats) gives balanced energy.

But I needed two packages and only had one.

This neither filled me up, nor kept me on my feet.  It was just too small.

Note that expiration date: 08.26.23. I purchased this earlier this year. Dehydrated foods simply don't have the shelf-life that freeze-dried offerings have.  Not necessarily a problem as such—just something to be aware of when filling the pack!

Taste and Recommendation:
This was delicious. The fruit and veg was was tasty. I was not really expecting the carrot to work, but it did.  And yes, I could taste the carrot as separate from the pineapple and the raisin. I thought it would be a distraction. I feared it would be a detraction. It was not; the carrot was good. It worked.

But beyond that, I'm not sure I can fully recommend this product. I mean, it just wasn't enough food for me. Figure in a $9 price point for what amounted to half a meal, and it's getting a bit spendy. However tasty it was.

If, however, you don't need a lot of fuel....  And you have a bit of cash burning a hole in your pocket...

It is darn tasty.
