Hanwag Lima GTX
I bought these after researching for a replacement for my old pair of Vasque boots after I wore them out to the point of them falling apart.
Overall I am extremely impressed with them thus far. My initial impressions were that they were very comfortable right out of the box and noticed no pressure points which I find common on a new pair of shoes. For a backpacking boot they are very light. If you are looking for a backpacking boot with the weight of a hiking boot this may be the boot for you.
I have had them out on several hikes and they have performed perfectly. I would have to say that break-in is not necessary as I pretty much took them from the store to the trail and the result was no blisters or even a single hotspot as a result. The shank in the sole is fairly flexible but you still never feel any rocks pushing up from under the soles. I found them to be very supportive. I have taken them over some rather rough terrain which involved a lot of scrambling and such and never felt like my ankle would or even could roll to either side.
If you live in a warmer climate and do not really need the Gore-Tex lining I would advise the non-Gore-Tex model. They can be rather warm with the combination of Gore-Tex lining and a full-leather upper. I use them in a wet not-so-warm environment a lot of the time so I went with the Gore-Tex.
Overall, these are probably the best boots I have owned and will buy Hanwag again when these wear out, but that may take a while.
