As a coffee drinker, have been looking for a relatively lightweight, stainless steel vacuum bottle in the 500ml to 1l size. Most are HEAVY, being > 16 oz.
Finally found the GSI Microlite with 500 ml (17 liquid oz) @ 233g (8 oz weight) or 720 ml (24 liquid oz) @ 318 g (11 oz weight). The sipping top seal is excellent, lockable, and top comes apart for cleaning. Opening is large enough to put in spoon and easily clean.
For 720 ml, I make coffee up each morning with two packs of Mt. Hagen organic instant coffee, one pack of Mt. Hagen organic decaf coffee, and three spoons of Hoosier Hill organic whole milk powder—as I like bold coffee with milk. Shaking to mix causes no leaks.
My experience is that hot coffee made at 6:00 is still quite warm at noon, if it lasts that long. :-) I consider this my luxury item, but it sure improves my day to have hot coffee. Have also used it for making hot soup where I wanted to continue hiking and enjoy during the afternoon as a savory treat. Great off the trail for hot coffee or iced tea in your car.
