Glide SUP Retro
Incredibly stable and lightweight paddle board. It performs almost like a hard board. It performs admirably in ocean surf, lakes, and rivers. The Retro is highly recommended for paddle boarders of all skill levels and is ideal for the paddler who doesn't want to be limited to one SUP discipline.
Pros
- Performs very well in all the various SUP disciplines: river running, surfing and flat water.
- Very high quality, but sells for roughly half the price of similarly constructed boards.
Cons
- The board comes with a kayak seat but a paddle blade to convert the SUP paddle to a kayak paddle costs extra.
As one of the owners of Glide Paddlesports, I am incredibly proud of the new version of our inflatable Retro all-around paddle board.
Only about 5% of inflatable paddle board manufacturers use the AeroMatrix Elite core that is inside this board, which is a woven cross-knit, drop-stitch configuration that is surrounded by a triple layer of PVC which is fused together rather than glued. The rails, which are typically the point of failure for inflatable paddle boards, use a Thermofuse technology whereby a groundbreaking heat weld is used on all three layers.
Besides adding to the longevity and safety of Glide boards, the AeroMatrix Elite core and Thermofuse Rails make the Retro extra stiff which allows the board to perform better than most inflatables SUPs on the market.
The Retro can be used for most of the SUP disciplines: flat water paddling, ocean surfing, whitewater river running, yoga/fitness and even fishing. The foldable fin box on Glide inflatables allows the user to easily roll the board up when deflated.
Included with the Retro are: 3 piece paddle, upgraded backpack with roller wheels, inflatable kayak seat, dolphin fin and a performance pump.
Background
I have been a paddle board enthusiast for the last 20 years. I've logged hundreds of miles on both the hard board Retro as well as the inflatable version. I've used it for ocean surfing, river running, flat water paddling, and SUP yoga.
