Gerber Outrigger Mini
A great assisted opening knife that is lightning fast and excellent for everyday carry!
Pros
- Assisted opening
- Lightweight and grippy
- Plunge locking system
- Full fine edge
- Pocket clip
Cons
- Can be stiff to open at times
- Lanyard hole won't fit 550 paracord
This is my first assisted opening pocket knife and I love it. The overall size of it closed is perfectly compact but the blade length is still big enough to get the job done.
At first when I was looking for a new pocket knife I was hesitant to pay the $43 price off the Gerber site and the $54 price tag at Cabelas, so I found a new Gerber Outrigger Mini on amazon for $28 and that's including the shipping!
At first it was tough on my thumb to get used to the action of using the thumb studs, but after 2 or 3 I could open the knife like there was nothing to it. Now I personally only have a use for full fine edge knives so with this one only coming in that option was no problem to me. Plus I'm also right handed and the knife was designed for a right handed person (being that the clip will be in your way if you try to open it with your left). Mine also came very sharp out of the box and has no blade wiggle when the blade is out.
So far I've had it for about 3 weeks and I love it and I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted me many years as an everyday carry pocket knife.
