This is an easy-to-use shoe glue for repairs such as detached soles. It dries overnight and holds securely even after severe abuse.

Pros

  • Dries overnight
  • Holds securely

Cons

  • Needs to be taped while glue dries

About a month ago, I did a review of the Brooks PureGrit 3 trail running shoes. In that review, I pointed out that the sole had begun to separate near the toe on both shoes. Immediately after writing that review, I used some Freesole to re-attach the sole with fantastic results.

EASE OF USE:

Overall, Freesole is pretty easy to use. You just smear a little bit on the sole and tape, tie, or otherwise press the shoe together. After sitting overnight, your shoe should hold together firmly. In my case, I had to re-join the toe of the sole to the toe of the shoe, which required a fair amount of tape.

DURABILITY:

After being allowed to set overnight, I removed the tape and found the sole firmly attached to my shoe once again. I have since put nearly another 200 miles on these shoes and the Freesole is still holding strong!

NOTES:

If your sole has come off completely, re-attaching it should be fairly simple. However, if you are attempting to re-attach an area on the edge of the sole of your shoe, you will likely need to use some tape to keep the pieces pressed together. You will also want to allow enough time to let the glue set. It was tacky after about 5-10 minutes, but needed to sit overnight before it was fully set.
