A recent backpacking trip provided more opportunities to test new breakfast options. This was one of the successful ones.

Preparation:
Per package instructions, I poured two and a quarter cups of boiling water into the package. I gave it a stir at 8 minutes, and again at 15 minutes. Eat, share, and enjoy.

Nutrition:
660 calories in the full bag makes a good start to a high-mileage day.  A bit of fat (11g, 14%)  and protein (15g, 30%) for longer-lasting energy, and a ton of carbs (140g, 51%) to get you moving.  Add in 50% of your recommended daily fiber, and this is a solid, healthy morning meal.

Taste and Satiety:
This is tasty, all right. The big chunks of apples are relatively mild, but the taste is there.  The raisins are the great big flavor bombs that reward savoring rather than gulping. And wee chunks of ginger to add a surprising bite every once in a while. Lemon, cinnamon, and nutmeg say their piece, and the coconut milk makes a creamy base that hangs everything together.  It's just a tiny step short of "delicious;" an extra quarter teaspoon of cinnamon would have done it proud.

Plenty filling, right up to the edge of too much without stepping across that line.

It's just an excellent, solid, tasty hot meal for a cool morning.

Recommendation:
I would happily recommend this to backpackers and car campers alike. It is a dehydrated rather than freeze-dried meal, so it's a little more bulky than some backpackers will prefer, and likewise has a slightly shorter shelf life. But the variety this meal provides in terms of flavor, texture, and calorie source more than makes up for any shortcomings.

One could probably replicate this meal quite easily at home. But Firepot have already done the work for you. You're already going to be doing enough work on the trail, so why not treat yourself?
