Light and comfortable with no chafing, for all-day wear.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Breathable and cool
  • Comfortable
  • Good fit

Cons

  • A little pricy

I get hot when I hike, no doubt about it. Even in snow, if I'm on a steep slope going uphill, I am hot. I saw these as a new product on the REI website, and decided to give them a whirl.

The fit was great for me, and the mesh fabric felt very light and airy. On day long hikes, they were very cool and breathable, and I experienced no chafing. Even on multi-day backpack trips, I was never conscious of them being there, but they stayed comfortable and supportive. There is no 'fly' in them, if that is an issue for you.

After washing out, they dry in a flash. As far as the stink factor goes, you'll have to ask my hiking companions. But nobody complained that I smelled any worse than usual.

I haven't had them for a long time, so can't speak to their durability. However, I exclusively wear ExOfficio's standard briefs, and they last for years, so I expect they should hold up well. And for $26 a pair, they'd better hold up!

In the interest of good taste, and to keep this website family friendly, I shall NOT post a picture of me wearing them.

Highly recommended!
