Eagles Nest Outfitters ParaPillow
This is a great little pillow for those looking for a little extra comfort under the head. Packs down into a pouch for easy moving and comes in three bright colors.
Pros
- Light
- Breathable
Cons
- Awkward packability
The ParaPillow is great for those folks that want to have a little extra padding under their heads while swinging in the hammock. This pillow (which I have in Red/Gray) is light and breathable. At no point during its use did the back of my head or neck get hot.
The fill in the pillow is nice and fluffy, and it retains its shape even after being packed for a while. It's probably best to store it unpacked for any really long periods of time though.
The covering material is the same parachute material that ENO's hammocks are made of. It's rather hard to stain, and I imagine it would be easy to clean (though admittedly, I haven't tried it yet). The material will cool off in a nice breeze, and is generally a very comfortable pillow.
My only drawback to this product was in packing it down. While this pillow packs down easy (and it has its own, separate bag for easy storage), the resulting shape is a rather long cylinder. While the packed pillow is still light, it's awkward to stow in a hiking backpack. I recommend grabbing an extra carabiner to clip the pillow bag to the outside of your hiking bag.
All in all, this is a great little product at a very reasonable price-point. It can even be used outside of the realm of camping. I intend to pack it up, clip it to my carry-on, and take it on my next flight.
