Deuter Aircomfort Futura 60+10 SL
The Variquick harness adjustment system allows for quick adjustment on the fly and doesn't slip like some other systems. Excellent women's fit with plenty of places to clip and place your extra gadgets. This does not have the newer ventilation system, but in general stays off of your back on its own, providing plenty of airflow. Downer is the side pockets where water bottles would go aren't real functional.
Pros
- Tough material
- Harness system
- Lots of places to clip and tie down
Cons
- Side water bottle pockets aren't big enough to be functional
- Heavier material than newer styles
An older model pack with a great women's fit. The Variquick harness adjustment system allows for quick adjustment on the fly and doesn't slip like some other systems. I really enjoy all the loops and tie downs I have on the exterior for all the little things you want to grab quickly. Notice in the picture I placed two sleeping pads on the outside and this actually acted like a little chair for me with the pack being the backrest!
This does not have the newer ventilation system, but in general stays off of your back on its own, providing plenty of airflow. Downer is the side pockets where water bottles would go aren't real functional. They basically don't open wide enough so they are almost useless except to pack things in there that you don't need until you make camp.
Has a built-in rain fly which is key in Florida, and I like the internal separator that you can zip or unzip so you can use the entire interior or split it into 2 section.
I have hiked in the Olympic Mountains through plenty of soggy-ness, and through Florida with plenty of heat and didn't worry.
