Columbia Rain Tech Omni Heat Pants

rated 4.0 of 5 stars

Live in WA where we get a lot of bad weather. Bought to go with my jacket of the same brand and was extremely impressed with the performance. Priced great, very functional, no frills.

Pros

  • Priced good
  • Durable
  • Waterproof
  • Warm
  • Light weight-- no bulk to them
  • Belt friendly

Cons

  • Can't take on/off with boots on

Lets start with the only con I could come up with. I put this under the cons because for some people this is a must. Especially when climbing a mountain where crampons are needed, would require too much time and effort to put on and take off. But this is one of the features I didn't want because of the wet weather I deal with a lot just on more place for them to leak.

Fits very well, no zippers on legs to leak or break on long trips, can wear a belt up to 2" wide. Very waterproof, wore these in the same storm as the jacket and not wetness, even with gaters on and water puddling at the tops of gaters where pants bunched up some. They don't breathe very well, hence the waterproof, and they don't wick moisture away either, but in serious bad weather this is that last thing I worry about. (if it breathes it leaks. has been my experience in the wet WA weather.)

Kept me nice and warm, cooled a little when stopped but otherwise great. Has cargo pockets with velcro and hand pockets with zippers. Very durable so far, have only had about 6 months but love them and I would recommend them to any one dealing with really wet/snowy weather.

Have been happy with all my Columbia gear.
