Columbia EvaPOURation Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars
photo: Columbia EvaPOURation Jacket waterproof jacket

Lightweight rain jacket. Basic rain protection, but not so breathable and wicking as described by manufacturer.

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Lightweight
  • Packable
  • Waterproof

Cons

  • Not so breathable
  • Get soaked in sweat overtime

A lightweight rain jacket, also packable, you can just pull it out in your pack when downpour strikes. Its waterproof fabric will keep you dry but offers less breathability. Over time you will be soaked in sweat. You can wear a wicking shirt inside for comfort, wicking is not that good as advertised.

I've been using it for almost 6 months and it's doing pretty well and beside as a raincoat you can also use it as a windbreaker.

You can also use it as an outer shell, but you need to wear a fleece jacket inside. It doesn't include any insulation, the fit is roomy enough for additional layering.

It has two front pockets for organization. It also serves as the pack for your jacket and two pockets around the armpit area for ventilation.

Overall this is a good startup jacket that offers rain and wind protection but can't match the protection and breathability GoreTex offers.
