Columbia Cool Creek Stretch Pant
These are my go-to pants for every adventure from skiing to canyoneering. They perform well and look nice.
Pros
- Durable
- Warm
- Quick dry
- Comfortable
Cons
- Snap occasionally pops while squating
- Items in pocket fall out while seated
I bought these pants as a layer for winter camping, skiing and snowshoeing. I have owned them for about 5 months and the only issue I have had so far is the button pops open from time to time when I bend over or squat. This was not an issue when I first bought the pants, so I am unsure if the popping is due to the amount of use or my winter beer belly.
The pants are made of nylon and spandex which makes them vary maneuverable in all situations. They some equipped with Omni-Shield and Omni-Shade. The Omni-shade is a UPF 50 sun protection and the Omni-Shield resists light rain and stains. These pants dry quick and I have yet to stain them so it must work.
The pants include a zip pocket on the outer thigh and the back pockets vecro shut. The design of the front pocket makes it easy for change to escape while sitting and my pocket knife does not stay attached well.
Beyond those issues these pants are great. I like the way they feel and the durability of the nylon. I have recently been using these pants as a layer under my dry suit while canyoneering and they perform well and assist with keeping me warm. I use these pants at least 2 times a week. They have become my main outdoor pant and I intend to purchase more.
On a more personal note my wife loves the way they fit me and if she had it her way this is all I would wear.

Very durable hiking pants, can also be used for the business casual work environment. Slender fit pants that are stain and water resistant. Definitely recommend these pants.
Pros
- Durable, resistant to stain & water
- Stretchy/giving material
- Length and waist true to size
- UPF protection
Cons
- Slender fit only
- Velcro back pockets
I really can't complain about these pants, in fact I have two, both in color Peatmoss. They are my go-to pants on long backcountry trips and even just day hikes. They are very comfortable against the skin. Two side and two back pockets. The back pockets are closed by velcro. A bit of a downside, but I don't tend to keep anything in them so I don't mind.
The only disclaimer to others is that these are slender fit only. I'm 5'8", 150 lbs to give a reference. They fit well and I like the style. They aren't too tight that I can't bend down. I am still very active with these and the even have a bit of stretch to the material which I like.
Note: If these pants are borderline tight for you, but you decide to keep them, wash them with care. They are mainly nylon, but it can shrink more. Wash normally, but tumble dry low or even better, let air dry. If you dry with the rest of your clothes, it may be tighter for the first day wearing, but will loosen up. For me, I just let air dry.
For my athletic fit, I love these pants. I have even worn them on business casual days at work no problem and would recommend this to others.
