Though I have newer pack(s), the CCW Valdez is my baby. In my six years of fortunate ownership it has stood up like iron. I've used it for six summers leading trail crews in the White Mountains (the 80 pounds mentioned above was two boxes of galvanized 8-inch steel spikes), six winters climbing ice, and assorted rock climbing trips thither and yon. It has even carried books. It is clean and sleek with reliable ice-axe loops and compression straps; nothing frivolous on this pack. I'd recommend it to anyone.
