Chinook Granite Espresso Coffee Maker 3-Cup
Instant coffee is fine when out in the backcountry, but for that real coffee taste nothing beats brewing up a mug of real coffee made from fresh ground coffee beans. The Chinook Granite Expresso Coffee Maker lets you do just that.
Pros
- Small, and very light weight
- Comes with a coffee scoop and a carrying pouch
Cons
- Made mostly of plastic
The Chinook Granite Expresso Coffee Maker is a great little 'French Press' style coffee maker that packs easily into a backpack or food barrel. The little storage bag says it makes 3 cups, but that means 3 tiny expresso cups! I just use this to make regular coffee. It holds 12 oz. of water, so you can make yourself one big mug or two smaller cups of coffee.
Normally, on a long trip I just take instant coffee, but on a weekend getaway where space is not at a premium I like to pack this into my food kit. It works just like any other 'press' style coffee maker. Just add a scoop or two of your favorite fresh ground coffee beans to the bottom (it even comes with a scoop!), heat up some water, then pour it in.
Give it a stir and let it sit for a minute then insert the filter press into the top and slowly push the press plunger down. The beans get moved to the bottom, and the liquid at the top is your brewed coffee.
Quick, easy and delicious.
