CEP Dynamic+ Merino Short Cut Socks
CEP compression socks are high quality socks that provide a high degree of compression.
Pros
- Wicks moisture
- Provides compression
Cons
- Too warm in hot summer temperatures
CEP uses breathable natural merino wool fibers that guide moisture away from the skin surface and cause evaporative cooling. The design eliminates creases that can cause friction and blistering. The fabric is treated with an antibacterial process that reduces odor.
Before ordering CEP socks I had to take measurements. This assures that the product fits properly in order to provide true compression. I measured my ankle at 10 inches, which correlated to a size 4 (I usually wear a size 9 shoe, but that has no bearing on the sock size).
I've used the socks for multiple hikes and short backpacking trips. In early spring, when the temperatures were mild the socks were comfortably warm but in mid-summer they were too heavy, even though wool is supposed to be a good temperature modulator.
The socks fit snugly, but were not overly tight. They were as easy to put on as any other sock. The materials were well-made of quality materials with good elasticity and stitching. After multiple washings no difference in elasticity was noted.
Subjectively, it appeared that recovery was enhanced after a long hike with feet feeling fresher than expected. I noticed that plant material, especially thorns and prickles, get caught in the tightly woven elastic and can be difficult to remove.
CEP compression sleeves are comfortable and appear to increase recovery after long hikes. I've tried other compression socks but have found that CEP has the best quality of any that I've tested.
