CamelBak Chute Vacuum Insulated Stainless
The Chute Vacuum Insulated Stainless has been discontinued. It was replaced by the CamelBak Chute Mag Insulated Stainless Steel.
This water bottle is an amazing day hike and everyday bottle. It definitely keeps your drink cold or warm for a long time! It is cheaper than a Hydro Flask, but performs just as well.
Pros
- Keeps drink insulated
- Durable as a tank
- Flows really well through mouthpiece
Cons
- Heavy!
- Not really for backpacking
I got this water bottle on Amazon for a really good deal, and am very impressed by its quality! I've had it for just about two years, and everything is still in working order!
I would first like to mention its insulating properties. If you fill the thing with ice and top it off with water, it will stay cold for three days. I tested this working at a summer camp and freaked out when I picked up the bottle on the third day and it still had ice in it!
It holds plenty of water (40oz or 1.2L) which helps to keep me hydrated (especially in Colorado!). It also does a great job of fitting in tight places, despite its size.
The Chute is durable, and I've knocked it against rocks while hiking with minimal damage. I tend to take pretty good care of my gear, and this stands the test of both time and durability!
I have taken this bottle on backpacking trips, but it is heavy. If you're not crazy like me, I definitely don't recommend it for that, however I can highly support its ability to provide chilled water on short trips (two days) or day hikes. Having used it for over two years, I've had plenty of experience with it and can say it's a wonderful bottle.
Now I'll mention decorating. I don't know about you, but I love to smother my gear in stickers. The bottle comes in several different colors, and the coloring is a very high quality and tacky coating that I find holds stickers very well.
Some stickers I have had on the bottle, through washings, for the same amount of time I've owned the bottle. No worries there! They'll stay on, trust me. The coating has not chipped off after hitting the bottle on rocks either. I wouldn't recommend slamming this against a rock just to test it's durability, but I can promise that it would still hold water and look good afterwards!
I recommend this bottle to anyone looking at Hydro Flask but can't stomach the price. Hikers, campers, and fishermen would also benefit from this bottle as it provides cold water on hot days. It's a fantastic bottle!
